I originally saw this recipe for Lemonade Scones on Cindy’s blog Life in a Recipe, who read about it on Celia’s blog Fig Jam and Lime Cordial. It took just over 5 months but I finally got around to making them and they are fabulous. Using only 3 ingredients produced these moreish tea time treats and as everybody knows, the easier and the less ingredients involved to produce a wonderful recipe is just my cup of tea. I enjoyed one too many with strawberry jam and lightly whipped cream.
Lemonade (Sprite) Scones
Ingredients
3 cups self raising flour
1 cup cream
1 cup lemonade (sprite)
Method
- Preheat the oven to 190°C.
- Combine all the ingredients in a bowl until just combined. The mixture will be quite sticky.
- Place the dough onto a floured surface.
- Dust your hands and the top of the dough with flour and gently shape the dough into a disk and with a floured cutter, cut out the scones, and place them on a lined baking sheet.
- Gently reshape the remaining dough and cut out more scones. I made a total of 12 scones.
- Alternatively shape the dough into a square and divide into 12 using a floured knife, separate gently and place onto a lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until a skewer inserted comes out clean.
as I can use sugar free lemonade, this is an easy recipe for me to try!
Tandy, they really are worth making and I would love to hear what they are like with the sugar free lemonade. 🙂
This recipe is absolutely smart! I really like it! BTW, I’ve been away for a while as you saw, not physically, but I had some things to do. Now I’m back! 🙂
Hi Rita, so nice to see you back again. 🙂 Hope your leg is all healed.
Ohhh, I love lemonade scones, I’d forgotten about them. They must have been all the rage back in Grams day, there were recipes for it in her cookbook. Good memories.
A good scone is underrated these days. I bet your Grams book is filled with wonderful memories.
I think I could happily turn into a scone.
Scones, glorious scones. 🙂
Wow that is simple, I love how you do your recipes you make things really easy.
Thanks for the lovely compliment Raymund. 🙂
what a great treat, perfect for the springtime!!
sweetlife
Perfect for any time. 😉
Thanks for the mention, M! I’d love to meet the genius who invented this recipe and shake her hand.. 🙂
Hi Celia. These scones truly are fabulous and I anticipate that they will be made more often than not in our home. 🙂
I love when an odd ingredient like soda comes into a recipe and the recipe turns out great.
I now keep a bottle of sprite on hand for these scones and a bottle of ginger ale for ginger ale chicken. 🙂
Have been meaning to make these for ages!
They are worth making every week. 🙂
These biscuits are still the best! I make them at least every couple of weeks. There are so many great ways to change them up that you never get tired of them. Like Celia I would love to meet the inventor of this recipe and shake their hand!
They are a clear favourite in our home too Cindy. I have not yet changed the recipe though. I would love to hear how you have amended the recipe. 🙂
I know. Aren’t they amazing. I discovered this recipe in the NSW Country Show cookbook – made by a gentleman. I made them – and I haven’t gone back to any other method since. Together with fresh cream and homemade jam or marmalade and it just doesn’t get any better.
Hi Mariana, welcome and thanks for stopping by. These truly are the worlds easiest and best scones!
You have a fabulous blog but sadly I cannot subscribe to RSS feeds – something to do with Apple? If you could add an email subscription option, I would love to subscribe. 🙂
