Out with the old and in with the new

The saga of our oven has come to a happy ending and we have replaced our old unit.

Out with the old...

and in with the new

The first order was supper so I whipped up a favourite of Pete’s of rosemary roasted spuds, crispy onion rings, soy marinaded fillet steak and a mushroom garlic cream sauce with an avo, roma tomato and chive salad (thanks Mommy for making the salad).  I was so wrapped up in the moment that I forgot to take a picture – sorry about that – fear not for we will definitely be having it again soonish.

Next had to be something baked and these lovely savoury scones were just the thing.  I will post the recipe for you soon. 🙂

Peppadew and Chive Scones

Have a  happy week.

  1. Congratulations on the new arrival. You certainly chose a delicious means of christening your baby. I would have sent a gift but I didn’t even know you were expecting.

    • I will just have to keep on christening it over and over again Tanya. 😉 Hope I can come up with some exciting dishes.
A peppadew is the brand name of sweet piquant peppers (a breed of capsicum baccaum) originally grown in the Limpopo province of South Africa – if you are unable to find these, you can replace them with any other sweet piquant peppers.
      Have a happy week. 🙂

  2. I love it that you get so carried away that you forget to take the picture..roasted rosemary potatoes are my favourite, Hope you recycled the old oven racks – they are useful you know.. I am not sure what for but they are useful.

  3. I love getting upgrade. =) I used to have the same/similar electric stove with the lid! We need to change our old oven too….but I don’t use oven enough that probably it doesn’t make sense to spend that money….=P Enjoy youro new oven! Nice yummy scones. =)

  4. Lucky you – a new oven is something I am lusting after. Unfortunately our roof has taken precedence this year, so it is still on the list. I’ll just bet you are full of inspiration with the new oven, too!

    • Hi Amanda, it is really a treat having the new oven – I must admit though, had the old one not been faulty, I would still have that! Hope your roof repairs/maintenance get sorted. Have a happy day. 🙂
