The saga of our oven has come to a happy ending and we have replaced our old unit.
The first order was supper so I whipped up a favourite of Pete’s of rosemary roasted spuds, crispy onion rings, soy marinaded fillet steak and a mushroom garlic cream sauce with an avo, roma tomato and chive salad (thanks Mommy for making the salad). I was so wrapped up in the moment that I forgot to take a picture – sorry about that – fear not for we will definitely be having it again soonish.
Next had to be something baked and these lovely savoury scones were just the thing. I will post the recipe for you soon. 🙂
Have a happy week.
—Mandy,
looove the new oven.
My goodness, your hubs must be in heaven
eating all of your delectable delights! 🙂 x
Kim, you are too kind. Haven’t cooked much for him yet – he has been away on business the last 2 weeks. 😦 Have a happy week. 🙂
I love your word – “soonish.” I need to use that word. Love the new stove and can’t wait to see all you do with it!
Soonish is a cool word – kind of gives you a little more leeway than just ‘soon’. Enjoy using it! Have a happy week. 🙂
you must be in heaven!
Was quite something getting used to the open element at the bottom but so far so good, thanks Tandy. Have a happy week. 🙂 xo
Yay..congrats on the new oven
I can’t wait for all the amazing recipes you will make
Thanks so much! I have lots of cooking and baking to catch up on. Have a happy week. 🙂
How nice the feeling is when you are cooking with new stove top and oven. The last time I had that feeling was 2 years ago 🙂
It really is nice, even though I am still worried about spilling something. Have a happy week. 🙂
Look forward to those pics and the upcoming recipe…scones are so versatile, savory or sweet. The oven looks great! x
Thanks Yvette. I thoroughly enjoyed the savoury scones – will be experimenting with different variations soon. Have a happy week. 🙂 xo
Yea for you! 🙂 Happy baking!
Thanks so much! Have a happy week. 🙂
Congratulations on the new arrival. You certainly chose a delicious means of christening your baby. I would have sent a gift but I didn’t even know you were expecting.
LOL, thanks ChgoJohn. It was a very tasty wash to christen it. Have a happy week. 🙂
Happy Baking/ cooking on the new unit!!
Hi Peachie, thanks very much. Have a happy week. 🙂
Oh fun! Congrats! I love getting anything new for my kitchen much less a new oven! The food you made looks and sounds great and I know you are so excited to have it!
So fun for you to share in my excitement – thank you! Have a happy week. 🙂
How many exciting dishes will you be able to “christen” it with?! And what on earth is peppadew…am intrigued!
I will just have to keep on christening it over and over again Tanya. 😉 Hope I can come up with some exciting dishes.
A peppadew is the brand name of sweet piquant peppers (a breed of capsicum baccaum) originally grown in the Limpopo province of South Africa – if you are unable to find these, you can replace them with any other sweet piquant peppers.
Have a happy week. 🙂
That’s so great to have a new appliance to have fun with. Those scones look like they’d hit the spot.
It is great fun. The scones recipe coming up next week Monday. Have a happy week. 🙂
New one looks chic….I actually got my new one a couple of months ago…;-)
Love those chive scones.
How exciting that you got a new oven Angie. You always create such wonderful meals that a new oven is well deserved. Have a happy week. 🙂
Congrats on the new oven! Those scones look delish! I’ve never baked with or used peppadew. 😮
Thanks very much Linda. If you don’t enjoy very hot peppers or chillies, peppadews are are wonderful alternative. Have a happy evening, 🙂
I love it that you get so carried away that you forget to take the picture..roasted rosemary potatoes are my favourite, Hope you recycled the old oven racks – they are useful you know.. I am not sure what for but they are useful.
Hi C. I kept both of the racks from the old oven. 😀 One for roasting veggies and one to use as a cooling rack for biscuits and cookies. 🙂 Have a happy evening. 🙂 xo
I love getting upgrade. =) I used to have the same/similar electric stove with the lid! We need to change our old oven too….but I don’t use oven enough that probably it doesn’t make sense to spend that money….=P Enjoy youro new oven! Nice yummy scones. =)
Hi Nami. Yes, it is a huge treat and spoil getting something new for the kitchen – don’t think there will be anything more for a very long while to come though. Have a happy evening. 🙂
Congratulations on the new oven!

Hi Andrea, thanks for stopping by. I am having great fun with my new oven. Have a happy day. 🙂
Lucky you – a new oven is something I am lusting after. Unfortunately our roof has taken precedence this year, so it is still on the list. I’ll just bet you are full of inspiration with the new oven, too!
Hi Amanda, it is really a treat having the new oven – I must admit though, had the old one not been faulty, I would still have that! Hope your roof repairs/maintenance get sorted. Have a happy day. 🙂
I wish you many years of happiness with it 🙂
Thanks so much Cindy. Definitely want to do it justice before we have to move one day. Have a happy afternoon. 🙂
Funny we both just made posts on kitchens 🙂
I also thought that when I was reading your post. Have a happy weekend. 🙂
Congrats for your new oven! 🙂 I’m having a cup of tea right now and wish I could have one of those savoury scones!
