I had high hopes for this recipe but it fell a little short on flavour. Even the pictures didn’t turn out the best. Chopped, fried bacon and mushrooms would take it to the level I was hoping, so if you are going to make these please do add the bacon and mushrooms.
Courgette Tartlets
Ingredients
3-4 courgettes finely sliced
3 eggs
45ml crème fraiche
100ml milk
1 small garlic clove crushed
2.5ml hot English mustard powder
Salt and black pepper to taste
2 rashers of bacon chopped and fried – missing from mine
4 mushrooms chopped and fried – missing from mine
Method
I have not ever eat it. Perhaps in Vietnam we did not have this.
Welcome and thanks for stopping by. Maybe you know courgettes as baby marrows or zucchini. Have a great weekend. 🙂
I forget, for a moment, that you’re living in that “other” hemisphere and was surprised to see a corgette recipe in March. It will be our turn soon enough; it’s your turn now to enjoy Summer’s bounty. The pics are fine, Mandy, and I bet the dish tastes good, as is. Of course, adding some bacon would improve it but that’s true for just about anything. Well, at least in my home. 🙂
Bacon makes everything better John. Thank you for your lovely compliment about my mediocre dish. Have a beautiful weekend. 🙂 xo
I’m sure it tasted wonderful and I thought the images were good!
Hi Lizzy, thanks for stopping by and for your kind words. I guess I was expecting something different. Have a lovely weekend. 🙂
Thought it looked really pretty like a mini soufflé – but yes, bacon and mushrooms are such good partners with most things, eggs especially!
Aah thanks Tanya! Reckon I could live on bacon, mushrooms and eggs. Have a beautiful weekend. 🙂
I think everything tastes better with bacon 🙂 Have a super weekend Mandy!
I agree Tandy! Have a beautiful weekend too. 🙂 xo
I am so glad I subscribed to your blog! Every dish is mouthwatering unique and awesome 😀
Nice one!

Thanks CCU for the lovely compliment. Have a super weekend. 🙂
I love what you have done with the zucchinis. They are a great vegetable and of course, they go so much better with bacon! xx
Thanks Charlie. Everything is better with bacon. 😀 Have a super weekend. 🙂
Oh no, maybe some nutmeg, hot pepper and cheese?
Brilliant idea Greg – will give it a go. Have a super weekend. 🙂
I think the picture actually does look really good, but I’ll make sure to add bacon and mushrooms. I just love mushrooms. 🙂
Aah, thanks Kristy! These are guaranteed to be a hit with the bacon and mushrooms. Have a s super weekend. 🙂
I like the idea of lining the container with the courgettes and I love that you are so honest regarding the flavour. Did you try turning them out of the ramekins?
Hi Sue, yip, I did turn them out but they look a little flat and insipid – poor little things. Have a super weekend. 🙂
Mandy, lovely little tartlets! I have many recipe ideas that fall flat in the flavor department, but keep on testing. That’s how brilliant new recipes are born! Maybe some sauteed leeks with that bacon?
Hi Karista, not all of the ideas pan out like we want. I love the idea of the sauteed leeks, will definitely keep that in mind next time around. Have a super weekend. 🙂
I like the fact you posted about a recipe that didn’t quite come up to expectations, what about adding some freshly chopped herbs? Mint always works well with courgettes, or maybe some oregano or parlsey. I like the idea of using them in a ramekin like you did
Hi Claire, I think adding herbs is a fantastic idea! How silly of me not to have thought about it at the time. Have a lovely weekend. 🙂
Most of the time we have winners when we prepare a recipe but I guess they can’t all be. Thank you for the tip…I’ll add bacon and mushrooms.
I was expecting so much more from these little tarts but alas – maybe I was expecting too much. Have a lovely weekend. 🙂
These tartlets are just so cute and looks so darn delicious to eat. And I think bacon would be great with this 🙂
Bacon magically transforms to many dishes Kay. Hope you are enjoying your trip away. Have a lovely weekend. 🙂
I love this idea! It’s so fun and sounds tasty, I really need to buy some ramekins ASAP! I’ll e sure to add bacon and shrooms- 🙂
I love making individual portions so my ramekins are used quite often. have a lovely weekend Jen. 🙂
Please add the bacon and mushrooms you say?? Not a problem!! Done and Done!
Have a great weekend Mandy.
Excellent! Have a super weekend too Jed. 🙂
Lol I am so silly, I didn’t know a courgette was zucchini. You are so fancy!
Strange how different places around the world call things by different names. Have a lovely weekend. 🙂
Gourgettes are one of my favourite veggies!! Thanks for a great recipe!!
Glad you like the recipe Pink. Have a super weekend. 🙂
Now this is a really interesting recipe. I am new to your blog, so I took some time to browse through your earlier posts. I’m so glad I did that. I really like the food and recipes you share with your readers and I’ll definitely be back. I hope you have a great day. Blessings…Mary
Hi mary, lovely to see you back again. Thanks for stopping by and have a super weekend. 🙂
So cute in the little ramekins. You could really add whatever you want to this dish so each individual gets exactly the toppings they like.
Bam, you are an absolute genius – I love the idea of individual added flavours. Have a super Sunday. 🙂
Wow,
These tartlets look gorgeous! Loving the flavors.
Hi Asmita, welcome and thanks for stopping by. Have a super Sunday. 🙂
It looks delicious but I agree, bacon and mushrooms would really kick it up a notch 🙂
Something moreish about bacon and mushrooms. Have an awesome day Martha. 🙂
Definitely some mushrooms and bacon will beef that up. But that alone looks good aready
Thanks Raymund. Have a super Sunday. 🙂
I agree with Greg, cheese is the thing, maybe some goat cheese or fontina. But hey, I love mushrooms and bacon any time so it’s all good. I think this sounds like a great way to prepare courgettes!
I reckon we add the cheese and the bacon and mushrooms. Have a super day. 🙂
I Disagree about the photo….
This dish looks AMAaaaaaZING 🙂
Happy Sunday, Mandy. Xxx
Bless you dear Kim, you are too kind. Have a beautiful week ahead. 🙂 xo
Hm that’s too bad – from the photo I’d have high hope too! We should try with bacon and mushroom then!
This little tart is definitely full of potential Nami – just needs a little more flavour. Have a lovely day. 🙂
Oh, Mandy.. the presentation is so unique and very, very pretty! I’ll definitely try this and add the bacon and mushrooms as instructed! xo Smidge
Hi Smidge, glad you like the presentation. These will be delicious with the addition of bacon and mushrooms. Have a lovely day. 🙂
Well, now I know I will have to get to the store to get the ingredients for this recipe. Because my friends are coming over this weekend so I have to make this recipe for them. Thanks soo much for this recipe! 🙂
Hi Robert, welcome and thanks for stopping by. I hope you and your friends enjoy these little tarts. Have a super day. 🙂
Wow… I could see so many possibilities for the filling! But what I truly love is the idea of using the courgettes as a crust! Fabulous little tip!
Thanks Linda, glad you like the idea. 🙂
