As promised, here are the last of the shots from our road trip.

I love old farm houses and buildings, it is as if they all have a story to tell

Gee, Mandy, some of these shots give new meaning to the phrase “middle of nowhere”. How vast! What a lonely life it must have been to settle and build a farm out there. And hard. A truly hard life. Thanks for taking us along and, more importantly, bringing us back home. 🙂

  The people are much more dispersed here than what they are in Hong Kong Bam – also it’s winter so you won’t see too many people mincing about outside plus people won’t really be on the outskirts of the towns. Have a lovely weekend. 🙂

Oh that farmhouse with the deep verandah.. the first thing I did when I got here was build a verandah onto the house, it is hard to take shots from a car of a landscape with such a straight flat horizon, you have to get it dead on, I mean you can correct it in Photo Shop but I am never as satisfied.. you did a marvellous job with that.. excellent.. you and that camera are certainly becoming great pals.. c

  I have always said to Pete that my dream home has a complete surround verandah, swing chair included. 😀 I wouldn’t even know how to correct anything in Photoshop. I loved the photo of the old farmhouse with the verandah, I’ve always wanted a verandah, don’t ask me why, it’s just one of THOSE things I want! And I always wonder about the history and the stories too, all those lives what it must have been like without electricity, easy communication. It’s something I regularly pondered about when we were out and about in the Alps, those tiny communities ostensibly cut off. What a life!

We are a 10 hour drive away from Johannesburg but my folks live there so I will always make trips there (although not often) and would love to know where your friends are staying if you could let me know!
