In My Kitchen – September 2013
YAY, it’s officially Spring – so very exciting! Even though we had a mild winter, anything below 25°C is cold for me, so I am super eager for the warmer weather to stick around and warm me up.
In my kitchen…
Is a batch of my current favourite cupcakes. I never seems to go a week without baking a batch. What a pity you don’t all live a little closer – I would bake you all a batch too. 🙂
In my kitchen…
Are 2 sets of espresso cups and saucers – sadly one of the red ones on the top left of the first pictures fell and broke when I was packing them away after taking the picture. I have ideas of serving rich dark chocolate mousse out of them for a dinner party dessert, or possible crème brûlée.
In my kitchen…
This might seem a tad odd to you but after being in our home for 10 years, I finally had the brain wave to add another shelf to one of our glasses cupboards. There was originally only one shelf as with the cupboard to the right (second picture). What a difference a shelf makes.
In my kitchen…
This feels a little like déjà vu so apologies if I have shared this previously – is my strawberry scented hotty which Pete bought for me to keep me toasty when I sit and work in my office which is like a freezer in winter – great summer office though.
In my kitchen…
Is my lunch – a sweet chilli and mayo chicken wrap with avo, spring onion and crispy lettuce with a grinding of black pepper.
In my kitchen…
Is a jar of pistachio nuts. They are Pete’s favourite after dinner snack. I bought extra to make a pear, pistachio and chocolate cake but haven’t got around to baking it yet.
What’s in your kitchen this month? Please remember to link back to Celia’s blog Fig Jam and Lime Cordial if you partake in the fun.
Oh! So beautiful cups and saucers!!! How I really wish I live near your house so I can see those beautiful kitchen of yours and taste that pretty cupcakes. Poor me, haha!
It would be lovely to share with fellow bloggers – such a pity we all live so far apart. Have a lovely day.:-) xo
Yeah! We should accept that sad reality, haha! Have a nice day! 🙂
😉
Sorry your cup broke 😦
I have been having a time of it lately – also broke a brand new plate and glass! Hopefully that’s the end of it. Have a super day Cindy – so pleased you have your car back – yay! 🙂 xo
adding a shelve is SUCH A GREAT IDEA!! oh I am so doing this, I’m sick of stacking cups and mugs! Thanks for the tip, not sure why I have never thought of doing it!! Great Post xx
I know Lisa – what ever took me so long! Best thing ever – hope you get to put in extra shelves soon. Have a super day. 🙂 xo
Really a wonderful cake, very beautiful 🙂
Thanks so much! Have a lovely day. 🙂 xo
G’day Mandy! Egg less chocolate cupcakes, how would you go wrong and love the decorated balls on top and love your love cups …thanks for your IMK view this month too!
Cheers! Joanne
Hi Joanne, thanks very much for your lovely compliment. Love popping into everybody’s kitchen every month. Have a super day. 🙂 xo
Your cups are lovely, so pretty. The hot water bottle might be an idea I will pick up this winter. My office gets cold as well.
That wrap looks delicious. I think we’ll follow your lead for lunch today!
Hi Pat, thanks for stopping by. Not sure I would make it through winter without my hotty. Enjoy your lunch and have a super day. 🙂 xo
Love these cupcakes!
🙂
Love the look of that wrap, Mandy!
Thanks Misky. Hope you are well. Have a lovely day. 🙂 xo
I love your espresso cups and saucers, so cute! And isn’t it great that Spring has sprung!
I cannot wait to get out into the warming weather Lizzy. Have a lovely day. 🙂 xo
Funny how sometimes the brain wave hits us out of nowhere and we wonder why it never occurred before, but better late than never.
Absolutely better late than never Norma. Have a happy day. 🙂 xo
What a shame one of your cups broke – the hazards of blogging! They’ll wonderful with chocolate mousse in them. Love your lunch.
Hi Anne, thanks for stopping by. I hardly ever break anything but then seem to go through a bout of a breaking a few things in close succession. Have a super day. 🙂 xo
OMG!! Such pretty cup cakes and I loved your set of cups too!! 🙂
Hi Sylvia, thanks for stopping by and for your lovely compliment! Have a happy day. 🙂 xo
I have to send this to my best friend as she is obsessed with buying glasses and would be very envious of your amazing collection!
Why don’t the two of you come and inspect my glasses in person, you know, just for quality control purposes. 😉 xo
Perfect idea 🙂
😀
Those cups are adorable & your glass cupboard just beautiful! I’m going to have some cabinets w/glass (pebbled) fronts and have been thinking of what in the world I can put in there. Most everything I have is so mismatched or boring that I’m afraid after cleaning & throwing out most of what’s now in my cabinets, I’ll need to go out & buy display pieces.
Well, you know, with a new kitchen should come a few new items to fill it too, don’t you think? I would love to come shopping with you to source a few pretty display pieces. Have a beautiful day Diane. 🙂 xo
Ngaww Hello Kitty is in your kitchen! And I am more than happy to help you with those beautiful cupcakes 🙂
Cheers
Choc Chip Uru
Anything kitty is a hit with me CCU! Right, I am keeping a few cupcakes back for you to come and enjoy with me. Have a lovely day. 🙂 xo
“… anything below 25°C is cold”!!! Really? Well, Mandy, we had better make sure your visit occurs sometime during July and August. Maybe, just maybe, with a little luck, part of June and September can be included. Remember, Chicago is hardly a tropical paradise. 🙂
I did enjoy your INK post, as I always do. Any post that starts with cupcakes and ends with pistachios is bound to be good.
What do you mean sometime during – I thought I could come from say end June through beginning September, after all, we have loads of wine and recipes to get through. Have an awesome day John. 🙂 xo
Mandy, your cupcakes get better every time you make them – this batch are absolutely beautiful! It’s nice to see what you do with the sprinkles and decorations that you’ve featured before in other IMK posts! 🙂 And I love your tea cups and saucers – especially the ones in the first photo – the colours are so appealing! You need a polarfleece sack to sit in when you’re working – if you lived closer, I’d whip one up for you (there’s a pattern on my blog if you’re handy with a sewing machine!). xx
Thanks so much Celia! Ooo, a polarfleece sack sounds like just the thing and how lovely that you would be willing to make one for me! I am heading over to your blog right away to see if I could manage sewing one myself, otherwise I will have delegate the job to my mom. Have a happy day. 🙂 xo
I would make you one in a heartbeat if you lived closer! I love giving them to friends, everyone is always so happy with them! 🙂
I feel warm and fuzzy with your loving gesture Celia, thank you! 🙂 xo
I’m super excited that spring is here too! I would do many things for a strawberry-scented hot water bottle, how fabulous!
Hi Jas, I love my hotty! Can’t say I have seen any more around in the stores. Have a happy day. 🙂 xo
Hi Mandy, it is such a good idea to add another shelf. We have been doing that in our cupboards. The shelves were originally very deep, it was such a waste of space.
Ive never quite understood why shelves have to be quite so big in all the cupboards Glenda. This really has made such a difference. Have a lovely day. 🙂 xo
Enjoy your Spring weather. it’s turning fall here and I am not the least bit excited about it lol. I love how you organized your cabinets though and your lunch looks divine!
Would love to share my lunch with you Kay – pop on over. Have a lovely day. 🙂 xo
I just did the same with one of my kitchen cupboards. I don’t know why it took me so long to think of it. I love how your wine glasses are all the same – I have a motley ‘set’ and must throw them out and start again. Your lunch looks very good – it’s lunchtime here now and I’d love a wrap just like that xx
I also had all odd wine glasses and a while back decided, enough is enough, I want them to match so went out and bought myself a few, plus a got a few for my birthday. Have a lovely day. 🙂 xo
My daughter would love to have that hello kitty 🙂
Amazing that Hello Kitty is so popular world wide Raymund. Have a super day. 🙂 xo
Mandy, sorry to hear about your cup crash. Glad you have a few spares and some great ideas for future use! Isn’t it funny how we can look at something day after day (while the “thought” that there MUST be a better way ruminates… sometimes for years.) Your new shelf looks terrific. So do your chicken wrap and cupcakes. 🙂
Hi Kim, thanks for stopping by. I cannot believe it took me so long to think about putting in another shelf. Makes me think I should go through the rest of our home looking at things with a different perspective. Have a lovely day. 🙂 xo
Lovely tour of your kitchen. Lots of practice and patience has gone into icing those cakes. I want to stick my finger in one and lick the icing off!
Hi TIFFIN, thanks for stopping by. These IMK posts are such great fun. Thank you for your lovely compliment about my icing. Have a super day. 🙂 xo
