The past month has been wonderfully warm and sunny and flown by in the flash. Seems we are in for a hot summer and the end of the year is nearing – can’t believe this is the third last instalment for the year.
Thanks as always to the lovely Celia over at Fig Jam and Lime Cordial for hosting this fun monthly event. We get to peek into so many beautiful and different kitchens each month. If you haven’t already, why don’t you share a little of what is in your kitchen.
In my kitchen…
Is an indulgent purchase of beautiful silver napkin rings. I walked passed them in a store I hardly visit; picked them up a zillion times and argued with myself that I really don’t need them – It’s not like we entertain every other day BUT then I went back to the store and well, 12 of them made their way into my basket! I am thrilled to say I used them for a dinner with friends and they looked fabulous on the table.
In my kitchen…
Is another indulgent purchase – oops! In my defence these lovely mini serving dishes were dirt cheap and I only bought 2. I am sure I will regret not getting more as they are perfect for serving a starter on.
In my kitchen…
Is a much loved tray friends gave me for my birthday while we were living in Mauritius. They both worked on the glass mosaic and made it personal with cupcakes and tea – my favourites!
In my kitchen…
Are yellow wood trivets which I inherited from my parent’s-in-law. It’s been a while since I used them on the dinner table – we seem to serve everything from the hot tray lately.
In my kitchen…
Is a mesh food dome. I have so many of these stashed away in the cupboard – we used them all the time when we lived on the island, not so much here any more, hence the stash in the cupboard.
In my kitchen…
Is a fresh batch of thinly sliced rusks, just the way Pete likes them for his morning cup of coffee.
What’s in your kitchen this month? Please remember to link back to Celia’s blog Fig Jam and Lime Cordial if you partake in the fun and drop her a quick note to let her know when your post will be up.
Love your silver napkin rings and those mini serving dishes I would have bought at least 6 as they are the right sizes and shapes for multi-purpose use,
Thanks Norma! I can’t believe I didn’t buy more of the mini serving dishes. Hopefully I will find more. Have a super day. 🙂 xo
Love those napkin rings, Mandy… I think I might have bought them too!
Thanks Lizzy. Every now and again, these purchases are a necessity. 😀 Have a wonderful day. 🙂 xo
Hey, I love that tray your friends gave you! Very nice!
~Do drop by and say hello 🙂
Gourmet Getaways
Hi Julie, thanks very much! I am still enjoying the thought of your spa day. Have a happy day. 🙂 xo
That Pete is so spoiled. Love the napkin rings.
Come visit and we can use the napkin rings for breakfast, lunch and supper and even when we have cupiecakes. 😀 xoxoxo
If you come and fetch me, I’ll visit you 🙂
Next trip to Plett to see the family, I will come and fetch you! 😀 xoxoxo
Mandy, the napkin rings are gorgeous as are the little serving dishes. And I love those wooden trivets – I guess with the weather warming up down your end, they will get more use now! Thanks for sharing more of the treasures in your kitchen!
Hi Selma, thanks very much! I have a feeling we will be doing a lot of al fresco dining this summer and the trivets will definitely be a feature on our table. Have a wonderful day. 🙂 xo
Sweets,
I love your kitchen. I ADORE that mesh cover. SO very COOL.
But what I love the most is YOUUUUUUUUUU! xxxx
Kimmie! You are the BEST! I love you! hugs and kisses to you in Minnesota. 🙂 xoxoxo
WIMK day is such a pleasure—I always feel like I’ve had a nice leisurely meander through your kitchen with you telling me the stories of various things you have and use and enjoy. It’s good that I had some cold sweet tea to sip while I ‘walked’ with you so I could savor the visit all the more. Hugs! xoxoxo
Aww thanks Kath! So much fun having you along for the peek. Have a beautiful day friend. 🙂 xo
Very posh napkin rings, !!!!!!! very original shape for rusks too, I think I’d also like my rusks to be this shape. xxxHarriet Hunkledon-Brown
Wouldn’t it be nice if you got the posh napkin rings on the dinner table when you came over. You will just have to come back. 🙂 xo
I think , whoops, I would slide those napkin rings into my basket too. Real napery at the table is such a lovely thing to do for guests and with the rings, even better.
Can’t beat a proper linen napkin Francesca. Have a wonderful day. 🙂 xo
We’re being told we’re in for a long hot summer too. I absolutely love your serviette rings. They’re stunning. I would love a set just like them. And I do love linen napkins rather than paper too. Looks like you’ve got a lovely set of linen napkins as well xx
I am looking forward to summer Charlie. If the napkin rings weren’t so heavy, I could send a set your way. Have a super day. 🙂 xo
Hi Mandy. I think it was a wise decision buying those rings. They look lovely.
Thanks Glenda. Have a wonderful day. 🙂 xo
Oooooo…. love the napkin rings and the glass mosaic tray are my faves. Your kitchen always has lovely goodies in it. Can’t wait to spend some time hangin in it with you. Hope you are well my darling friend, and slowly thawing out from winter. Still a bit nippy over night, but the days are lovely. Getting in the odd sneaky sun bake so as not to frighten people later in the year when I put my swimmers on. Haha! Have a great weekend. Hugs and love across the oceans. xox
PS: Do you think October is a good time to visit you?
Sadly the real tour will be over in a jiffy Anna, our kitchen is not at all big. We will have fun all the same. Maybe we can do a repeat. haa haa.
See now October is a perfect time for visiting because it is just the perfect time between Spring and Summer weather, it’s the month we got married, everything looks fabulous and the chances of seeing most of the big 5 in the park are good, its a fabulous time for boating and if you are so inclined fishing weather and adventurous off road mountain biking is ideal and it’s well before the crazy Christmas rush of people. So, can I officially start counting sleeps? 😀 Have a wonderful and happy day. 🙂 xo
OMG…. Feeling super excited at the thought of actually naming the month to visit you. 🙂 Perfect weather, happy times for you with a wedding anniversary, better chances of seeing the big 5, Id be happy with a Meerkat tho, good boating weather, mountain biking AND it wont be crazy busy…. BOOM! This is looking like the month, pretty sure I can say, let the countdown begin. YAY!
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. Hugs. xox
Right, so only around 365 odd sleeps to go – give or take. Woohoo – yippee – yay! Awesome stuff! Had a fabulously lazy weekend. Didn’t even go for a run this afternoon although I am feeling awfully guilty about it now. Oh well. Hope yours has been fabulous too! 🙂 xo
Loving those napkin holders. so fancy. Of course your beautiful tray should be something always treasured. Happy Thursday to you. Take Care, BAM
Thanks Bam. Happy Thursday to you too. 🙂 xo
I have been looking for those mesh domes for such a long time!!! Where did you get them? Thanks for sharing all your lovely purchases!!!! Liz x
Hi Liz, I purchased a few of the domes in Mauritius and we have quite a few inexpensive stores here that stock them too. They are dirt cheap and work and absolute treat. Hope you can find some where you are. Have a wonderful day. 🙂 xo
In our kitchen these days we’re enjoying wild chanterelles we’ve been gathering. Last evening we found a beautiful chicken-of-the-woods that promises to be delicious! We’ve been enjoying our purple hull peas, which are coming in abundance. The end of our summer season has in the last few days yielded bell pepper soup, pickled jalapenos, spaghetti squash with garlic, sweetened butternut squash and feta cheese, and more. It’s a great time of year to be in the kitchen here!
Bill, you always have the most wonderful things in your kitchen. I would love to break bread with you to enjoy your wonderful produce with you. Have a wonderful October. 🙂 xo
We all need to indulge ourselves every now and then. That tray is beautiful and so special because it was made for you!
You absolutely right Tanya and its not something I do at all often. Have a beautiful day dear. 🙂 xo
I could’ve used that mesh dome during the summer! So many flies this year, just incredible.
>
Such a pity I can’t send everybody one for their kitchens. Have a wonderful day Misky. 🙂 xo
Those wooden trivets are wonderful! Hope you are well – I see your kitchen is doing just great 🙂
Hi Tricia, lovely to hear from you. All well thanks, I trust the same with you. The trivets are wonderful treasures. Have a wonderful weekend. 🙂 xo
I can see why you had to buy those napkin rings. They’re so elegant, especially with beautiful linen napkins. It’s great to have for company but don’t hold back, use them for just you and Pete too. What a lovely tray and such a thoughtful gift. It reminds me of one that I used to have with matching coasters but no where near as nice as yours. I do think you need to go back and pick up more of those little serving dishes.
Now tell me again what those rusks are? I remember talking about them but it was a while ago and well…Mandy you know my brain is getting old.
Great peek in your kitchen this month. You always have so many cute things.
Agreed Diane, I will definitely be using the napkin rings for just the two of us. Our anniversary is coming up which Pete will be home for so there is the perfect opportunity. How lovely your tray and coasters must have been Diane. I have just officially put the mini dishes on my shopping list. 😀 Rusks are double baked biscotti type biscuits and are frightfully addictive. Actually, think I shall go make myself a cup of tea to have with a rusk right now. Have a beautiful weekend. 🙂 xoxo
Ooooh, I think I need some rusks! Happy anniversary coming up.
I would love to send you some Diane. 🙂 xo
That tray’s design is so cute, I really like it 😀
Cheers
Choc Chip Uru
Aww thanks CCU! Have a super weekend. 🙂 xo
love the serving dishes and the trivets. we use our covers over food a lot in summer when we have guests. so many bugs in Qld!
Hi Sherry, thanks for stopping by. Have a wonderful weekend. 🙂 xo
That serving tray is my favourite! And those silver napkin rings are gorgeous.
Thanks Angie! Have a super weekend. 🙂 xo
I love the napkin rings and the little dishes are adorable. I have a similar dish and find I use them very often. I have a feeling you’ll be looking for more!
I really was silly only buying two of those lovely dishes. Hope I can find more. Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by. 🙂 xo
Hi Mandy I’m with you on the napkin rings, they are lovely. How special that your friends made that lovely tray for you, it’s so nice to have some things in the kitchen with a story behind them. Its hotting up over here so we will be needing to pull out the mesh covers from our stash too. Hope you have a good month.
Hi Vicki, I need to find more things in the kitchen with stories attached. Think its a great theme to work with for IMK posts. Our weather seems a wee bit confused again at the moment. Our temperatures have dived. Hopefully not for long. Have a super day. 🙂 xo
Mandy, your silver napkin rings are gorgeous and I’m sure they’ll get heaps of use! And I remember those meshed food covers – my mother used them all the time when I was growing up. I have to get a few for my kitchen! What a precious gift that mosaic tray is – handmade with a great deal of love just for you! xx
Hi Celi, thank you! It would be lovely to share with everybody and post off a few food covers. I keep the tray stashed away so it doesn’t get damaged. Have a super weekend. 🙂 xo
The colour of the wood of those trivets really appeals to me. I love simple things made well. Great peep in your kitchen as always Mandy
They are fabulous. The one has a slight crack though from use. Have a superb week ahead Sally. 🙂 xo
Lots of lovely goodies indeed!
Thanks for popping by. 🙂 xo
the silver napkin rings totally worthed, especially for salad or grain dish…
Thanks very much Dedy. Have a super day. 🙂 xo
I believe we are all worth small indulgences every now and again. Your silver napkin rings are stunning and I bet they cam with a bit of history too!
Thanks Marilyn, you are so right although I am not used to indulging so. At least I know the napkin rings will get good use. Have a super week ahead. 🙂 xo
G’day Love your tray and napkin holders too!
Thank for also for this month’s kitchen view!
Cheers! Joanne
Thanks for popping by Joanne. Have a wonderful October. 🙂 xo
Love those napkin rings and those little plates for starters…yes I think you might regret not getting more 🙂 …oh well, you’ll just have to go back for a few more!
Thanks Laila. I really hope I can get hold of more of the little plates. Have a happy day. 🙂 xo
I love the tea tray! What a thoughtful gift from your friends. I also have similar silver napkin rings…now, if I could only remember where they are!
Oh no, I do hope you find your napkins Kristy.
Now onto some other news – seems our post office has managed to misplace 2 of my parcels! Urgh!!! They say not your and that yours went on its way safely albeit late so I am ever hopeful you will still get your tea. 🙂 xo
I’m sure it will arrive some day. It took mine a long time to get to you. Sorry to hear they lost another package though. Hopefully that one will turn up!
I hope so Kristy. I have taken quite a lot of abuse from the recipient! Not fun. xo
Definitely not fun!
Yip. xo
Your silver napkin rings are pretty & modern too! I love them!
Thanks Sophie! I am so pleased I bought them. Have a happy day. 🙂 xo
I’m finally catching up on blog posts, those napkin rings are stunning!
Very kind of you to catch up with me Tandy. Have a wonderful weekend. 🙂 xo
Hi Mandy! Those napkin rings are wonderful – so elegant, yet not overly formal. I would love to own a set of those. Love your little serving trays, too. I have been on the lookout for some square trays recently, but haven’t found any I like. When I do, I’m sure I will buy many. 🙂 The handmade gift is beautiful, as are those slice of bread!
Hi Ngan. I am so pleased I bought the napkin rings. I will get many years of use out of them. I hope you find your square trays soon. Have a wonderful week ahead. 🙂 xo
Those napkins rings are so classic and I could go a piece of your thinly sliced rusks (or thickly sliced, if not picky).
Hi Jennifer. I absolutely love my napkin rings – so pleased I bought them. I agree, the rusk, thin or thick. 😀 Have a super day. 🙂 xo
Those napkin rings are elegant, as are the little serving dishes. Also the food dome would be very useful in my kitchen as we tend to have many fruit flies at the end of summer and beginning of fall.
I can’t wait to have the opportunity to use my napkin rings again Sue, maybe with the serving dishes. Have a super weekend. 🙂 xo
The napkin rings were definitely worth a splurge, they will add a touch of elegance to your table. I have a weakness for serving dishes as well, the white ones will show off any food served on them.
Thanks Liz. I am really happy with the napkin rings. I have a weakness when it comes to buying things for the kitchen. Have a super day.:-) xo
