In My Kitchen – May 2015

Even though it is my birthday month, all the gifts below were just because gifts and thank you gifts.  Very special!

Celia over at Fig Jam and Lime Cordial must spend hours linking all of the instalments of IMK every month as there are so many wonderful blogs to visit.  Thank you Celia for the fun of being able to pop in around the world to see what everyone has to share every month.

In my kitchen…

Is the most thoughtful gift from my sister in law Elmien.  When I was last up in Johannesburg visiting and seeing their new home for the first time, I commented on how much I like one of her plant pots and how I cannot find the gift tags she uses down here and next thing, when the folks were here visiting, along came a gift for me.  Dankie Elmien, ek waardeur dit baie!

Along with the pressie from Elmien was a gift from my brother Chris (Elmien’s husband) – aww, they miss me.  Thank you Honey Bunny.

Is a big bottle of my dad’s favourite spice which has also become mom’s favourite and all my siblings.  It’s a good spice.  Thank you for brining one along for me too daddy. Love you. xo

Is some fabulous tea from the UK and some home grown olive oil.  Friends of Pete’s from varsity days, now living in London came home for a visit and made time to come and visit with us and brought along the most thoughtful gift for me!  Thank you Ian & Ruth.  It was wonderful finally meeting you and here’s to us coming and visiting you in the UK soon.

No sooner had Ian and Ruth left that my brother in law and sister in law from Plettenberg Bay came to visit for a weekend and brought Pete and I a beautiful gift bag filled with loads of treats.  Don’t tell Pete I managed to finish the Lindt chocolate all on my own.  Thank you D and Trishy.  Missing you – come back for another weekend soon!

Are two nunu mini sauce jugs.  Can’t believe I forgot to share these with you last month.  My friend Yolandie sent them down with her son who was here doing swimming trials.  She said she saw them and bought them for me because she knows how I love little things.  So sweet of you Yolandie, thank you so much!  Hopefully we can use them later this month when you are here.

In My Kitchen – December 2013

Here we are at the end of another year.  Thanks again to Celia who so kindly invited us all to partake in this fun monthly event.  I am looking forward to starting afresh in the New Year again.

In my kitchen…

Are 2 escargot dishes.  Escargot is not something we eat very often but have decided that when we do, we want to do it properly.

In my kitchen…

Are blue sprinkles.  I am super excited about these as normally I can only ever find pink and the odd occasion when I can find blue, the colours are usually not very nice.

Was the first of 2 fabulous pressies.  This first one is from my lovely sister-in-law Trish from when she visited last month.  Isn’t it just the most thoughtful lovely gift!

In my kitchen…

Was the second pressie from Mandy (Trish’s daughter – the mother of my Godson).  I was hoping to enjoy the bubbly with Mandy while she was here but alas, time did not allow.  I hope I can keep it long enough for the 2 of us to enjoy together soon.

Are a few more shells which I picked up on our last ride to, and walk on the beach.

In My Kitchen – June 2013

In My Kitchen – June 2013

It honestly feels like yesterday that I put May’s edition together.  The year is flying faster than I can keep up with, so before any more times runs away with me…

Is more for the baking drawer!  I finally got hold of some icing couplers which I have been wanting for a long while.  It is so much easier to use one icing bag with a coupler to easily change nozzles to ice different patterns – now if I could just get hold of a coupler or two which are slightly bigger than these to fit my other nozzles.

In my kitchen…

Are 2 icing nails – I have watched a tutorial on how to ice a rose – not so sure the practical will be as easy though – I will practice and report back soon. 🙂  I see much hilarity in the near future.

Is MORE glitter – in fairness I don’t have silver in my collection and it will look super pretty on those roses I am going to ice.

In my kitchen…

Is the most adorable and treasured kitty printed tea towel, a gift from a friends who recently spent a night with us.

Is Pete’s new Italian coffee pot.  He wants to make coffee in it on the fire – yip that’s my pyromaniac hubby for you.

Is a fabulous bottle of olive oil which I bought when we stopped in at Humansdorp at Le Chameleon.  It is my favourite place to stop on our trips through to Plett to visit family.
